It was an absolute pleasure to photograph Tim and Alice’s wedding at the grand Didsbury House Hotel in Manchester last summer. The wedding was a huge celebration from start to finish, full of vibrant and fun guests. I was able to photograph my favourite thing, natural shots filled with laughter and love.
The bride and her bridesmaids all got ready in the penthouse room in the hotel, allowing for plenty of time for a few glasses of fizz to calm the nerves.
The ceremony was in the Blue Lounge within the luxury Victorian Townhouse. There were tears of joy, loving moments and lots of cheering from enthusiastic friends as Tim and Alice made their vows. The room erupted as they were announced husband and wife.
Didsbury House Hotel is stunning, a brilliant backdrop for the a group shot. The weather was fantastic, it was one of the hottest days of the year with gorgeous blue skies, making those first celebratory drinks taste all the better for the guests! The balcony was the perfect spot for some shots from above.
A short walk in the sunshine got us to the sister venue, a walled garden for drinks and the breakfast meal.
I truly felt like I was in Malta rather than Manchester, the setting for their meal was incredible. Open and lots of light, a gorgeous place to have their first meal as husband and wife.
I love these shots of Tim and Alice, what a gorgeous couple. We didn’t have to go far to get these shots, the guests were mingling about 5 metres away to the right as the newly weds snuck off for a quick kiss and to get a few special photos for their wall.
The group shots were very casual and a great laugh. I like to photograph as discretely as possible and not alter the flow of the day. With groups shots though, I do think it is important to get all those special people with the bride and groom in one photo together, these are the pictures that will really be cherished.
Now, I must mention the heartfelt and very emotional speeches, they had everyone laughing one minute and crying the next. It was clear how much love their was for Tim and Alice.
After the speeches and the delicious BBQ, the guests returned to the Townhouse to party the night away. What a great party it was, lots of dancing, drinking, chatting and fantastic music including a live saxophonist playing along side the DJ. I was loving the tunes and dancing away whilst taking photos, I didn’t want to leave.
Congratulations Tim and Alice. It was a truly fantastic day and a total privilege to photograph, thank you for including me in your special day.
